Do you like handmade soaps? Do you like all natural ingredients in your products? Do you like like to shop local? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, I have the perfect little shop for you. Anyone who knows me is aware of how much I love to take care of my skin and also to shop locally for myself and for gifts for friends. It just means more to get a candle or a bar of soap from someone local rather than getting things from Bath and Body Works or Yankee Candle (though don’t get me wrong, I love some of their scents!)
I recently got the opportunity to try some lovely handmade, all-natural soaps from a small business in New York called Soap By Vera. They are all made in small batches and wrapped in super cute paper! It felt like getting gifts in the mail; on that note, these are not expensive at all and would make great gifts for friends and family who might need to branch out from using generic soaps.
I tried a variety of scents to get a good feel for the vibe of Soap by Vera. Inside the cute packaging on the right, we have Cinnamon Orange Clove and Cool Citrus Herb. The unwrapped on the left is one of a variety of versions of their Rosemary Melon.
(These two photos were taken by Soap by Vera, not me.)
Shown here is the ingredients list for the Rosemary Melon flavor! Pretty short and simple for a soap!
The unwrapped Rosemary Melon and Cool Citrus Herb, my favorites out of the three! I’m actually not a huge fan of cinnamon, so I was a little hesitant about the Cinnamon Orange Clove flavor, but I was surprised to find out that the cinnamon scent is rather mild and works really well with the orange! Though the cinnamon is the strongest scent, it mixes well with the other flavors to not be overwhelming.
Cool Citrus Herb smells very citrusy of course, but it’s not an unnatural or overpowering smell, making it a good gift for anyone, including any guys, who you’re not sure what scents they like. The bottom of the Cool Citrus Herb has some chunks in it too, which make it look and feel all the more natural.
Rosemary Melon is the fruitiest and most floral smelling of the three, and has a very pretty marbled look to it. This one is my favorite, because I love anything that smells like flowers (or candy).
The soaps aren’t very big, but I’ve been using them all and they’ve still got a lot left in them. I used one scent for all of my showers and hand washing for a whole week and there’s still about 75% of the soap bar left, which is really great for a natural soap.
At the end of the day I love all of these soaps, and will definitely be back to try a few more of their scents. They are always making new flavors according to the season, so I’ll be sure to pick some interesting ones for me and my friends when I buy gifts.
Please go check out their website to find yourself a soap that was made with all-natural ingredients and support a local business. The soaps are $6 each, which is really reasonable and its in such cute packaging! I currently have my eye on their Coconut Ginger Almond flavor!
Also give them a follow on Instagram!
